Advanced Climatic Wind Tunnel Testing for the Next Generation of Mobile HVAC
Red Dot owns and operates the world’s first independent climatic wind tunnel dedicated to power sports, UTV, LSV, and electric research, development and testing. This Arlington-based facility is available to all OE partners, offering real-time data and results that can be remotely monitored.
Testing capabilities include
Dynamometer
This rolling road simulates long driving conditions and power runs in a controlled environment.
Wind tunnel
Allows vehicle testing in wind conditions from 0-75 mph (0-120 km). Directional wind vanes allow customized wind stream profiles across the vehicle.
Thermal imaging
Visualizes the distribution of hot and cold air across systems to maximize heat transfer and optimize airflow.
Anechoic chamber
Provides a controlled acoustical environment to evaluate noise emissions.
Salt spray corrosion testing
Used to test and evaluate the resistance of component finishes to extensive salt spray testing, ensuring quality and durability in corrosive environments.
Electrical and full function test
We 100% test all heaters at all fan speeds. We also test our controllers, including those for our air-blend doors.
Solar, refrigeration and humidity
A full-spectrum lighting array simulates solar loading on all sides of a vehicle. Humidity system controls allow us to test other variables, including demist compliance. The environmental durability test chamber allows endurance testing of critical components at a temperature range of -40 to 104°C (-40 to 220°F).
